This article is about the author. For the fictional character, see Daniel.

Daniel Benfield (usually shortened to Daniel or Dan) is a fanfiction writer who has written the modestly-successful Azumanga Who and is, since September 2011, the only contributor to this Wiki. But enough about him – how about his contributions?

[show]About Me
I was born on August 23, 1988 and have lived in Florida for my entire life. My interests include writing (woah, really?!), drawing (not very well...DX), game shows, and video games.
This all started when I was about three years old, playing with my Little People toys; I came up with a simple story where three people find a dog on the side of a lake, which became The First Story. Three more stories followed, all created with my toys, which eventually led to a story called The Twelve Dimensions.
In early 2008, I discovered the five-disc "thinpak" set of the Azumanga Daioh anime at my local library; I watched the series and was instantly hooked. Shortly after returning the DVDs, I realized that the anime helped to cement my belief in a good story and began writing.
May 24, 2008 saw the debut of Azu-Who, a crossover between Azumanga Daioh and the British science-fiction series Doctor Who, on Fan-Fiction.Net. Several spinoffs were quickly written as I came up with ideas.
By Christmas, I created a DeviantArt account and started rewriting the original (and at this point, 31) scripts posted on FFN into new, revamped versions with a larger emphasis on detail and taking on a style more resembling a novel. Although I've continued writing ever since, my interest in FFN dropped considerably once the site removed Azu-Who on March 9, 2009.
Incident
On September 27, 2009 I ran into trouble with certain people whose only intention was to discredit me and circulate lies. Around that point, the person who had created the AzuSanity Wiki (which had introduced me to fanfiction) announced that he was renouncing Azu (although later developments showed that he was in fact always one of "them", he was still a positive influence in Azu-related fanfiction until 9/27/09).
After a troublesome battle that involved nasty edits to the second-generation AzuSanity Wiki and a few of my pages, a DeviantART user posting pictures stealing both the original and Great Battle Azu-Who logos (plus several others, all mocking me), and repeated abuse of Hannah Benfield throughout, I posted a goodbye on DeviantART on October 2, 2009. With this, I changed my signature and posted a goodbye.
On October 13, I returned to DeviantART with a new oneshot entitled Mind's Vortex and an altered signature. A bit later on, I altered the signature to one that more closely reflected myself.
Copyrights
All of my stories, plus all characters/places/events not related to Azumanga Daioh or Doctor Who, are ©1991-2014 DB Enterprises, Inc.
Everybody I Own
All characters that I personally have created and hence own are listed at Azumanga Who/Original Characters and may only be used with permission. Allura McCoy and Mew are "characterization only", as they are based on characters owned by other companies.
I reserve the right to require a message stating their usage and, once posted, a link to the story/chapter/drawing/etc. in which the characters are used.
Benfields
For Daniel and his daughters (Hannah, Rebekah, and Sarah), permission must be requested. In this, I require a message stating their usage and, if permission is granted, a link to the story/chapter/drawing/etc. in which they are used once you post it.
General
If you get permission, feel free to do whatever you want with the characters (within reason, of course, and sticking to their basic character) so long as I (the one granting permission) am not placed in a negative light through your usage (either in-story or in real-life) and so long as the character is not used for nude artwork or "pornographic" stories.
The porn angle is allowed if the character has a good reason to partake in such things (i.e., forced into it; has to get information) except Chrissie, since that's pretty much what she does from the "Hospital Era" through The Reason Why...although even she has her limits.
Everybody I Don't Own
While I've used these characters, none of them are mine. As such, requests to me for their usage will be respectfully ignored.
Authors
The following are author-avatars that have appeared in my stories. The following author-avatars are copyrights of their respective authors.
Author Avatars
- EvilDux
- Slightly Askew
- Nazo X
- Chiyo And Osaka Fan
- "M" (plus The M.B.A. Squad)
- Jani Bodmann
- Chris Davola (plus his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davola)
Azu-children
No, I haven't created any Azu-Children yet, and as such the following characters used in my stories are not mine.
- Nanami Tanizaki-Kurosawa (copyright Notorious-Osaka; this said, I am the only one I know that uses her)
- Koyomiko Takino-Mizuhara (copyright Funakounasoul aka Funari; was once in the public domain, although that's kind of a weird thing but hey...)
Hannah Hoshino
A character from Second Generation, which is copyright Cartoony (aka CartoonLion/ZeldaPeach). I've never used her, but there are some similarities between her and the Hannah I created that I wasn't aware of until about mid-2009; as far as I know, they're not the same person and shouldn't be considered as such.
Admin
On September 29, 2009 I was made an administrator of the third-generation AzuSanity Wiki by Angela Beesley, co-founder of Wikia. On October 2, I asked to be removed from the position due to safety concerns (see above) and, although briefly reinstated later that month, I again relinquished the position (and again due to safety concerns).
